The breaking up at Indooroopilly State School was celebrated by
a very pleasing entertainment provided almost entirely by the pupils
and assisted by the young lady teachers. The program included several
choruses, songs in character, a recitation and a very entertaining
dialogue - also given in character.
At the close of entertainment the Rev W Moore, Chairman of the
school committee expressed appreciation at the entertainment and
commended the teachers for the trouble they had taken in preparing
the children for it. He also particularly referred to the healthiness
of the children attending the school, stating that Mr Le Vaux the
Headmaster had informed him that over 300 children had attended
since the school opened a year and a half ago. While there had been
one death among them, this was caused by an accident.
The entertainment was brought to a close by the singing of the
national anthem. The school was densely crowed and many were unable
to gain admission.
