About our School > Behaviour Management Program

Consistent with the requirements of the Education Department's policy on Managing Behaviour in a Supportive School Environment (1993), our school has established a Behaviour Management Program which aims:

• to support responsible behaviour that acknowledges and protects mutual rights; and
• to enhance the development of positive and productive relationships through the provision of a supportive and stimulating learning environment.

To achieve our goals, we strive to establish and maintain an environment in which the dignity and worth of each individual, quality interpersonal relationships and fair and just practices are valued. We work to eliminate harassment, bullying, inappropriate language, aggressive and other socially unacceptable behaviours.

At our school, we accept that everyone has rights and responsibilities. The teachers provide appropriate instruction through a range of strategies and expect students to uphold a code of conduct which focuses on care, respect, courtesy, valuing property and the good image of the school. Basic rules are specified for the classroom, the playground and for school-wide activities.

Our preferred practices emphasise preventative, corrective and supportive actions through the use on non-confrontational language. Where appropriate, teachers apply consequences for infringements that are fair, just, certain and logical and support students through a counselling and welfare program which utilises resident and off-site expertise.
